Average Waypoint Command

The Average Waypoint Command creates a new waypoint by averaging the locations of a group of waypoints, or a group of trackpoints.

To average a group of waypoints, do the following:

  1. Select two or more waypoints.
  2. Then, do one of the following:
    • On the Tools menu, click Average Waypoint.
    • Right-click the selected waypoint, and click Average Waypoint.
  3. The Edit Waypoint dialog will appear, allowing you to label the new waypoint.

The group of waypoints will remain selected after the new waypoint is created, allowing you to delete the waypoint group after the averaged waypoint has been created.

To average a track or shape, do the following:

  1. Select a track or shape.
  2. Then, do one of the following:
    • On the Tools menu, click Average Waypoint.
    • Right-click the selected track or shape, and click Average Waypoint.
  3. The Edit Waypoint dialog will appear, allowing you to label the new waypoint.

The track or shape will remain selected after the new waypoint is created, allowing you to delete it after the averaged waypoint has been created.

To average a portion of a track or shape, do the following:

  1. Select a track or shape.
  2. Create a Track Selection containing the points to be averaged.
  3. Then, do one of the following:
    • On the Tools menu, click Average Waypoint.
    • Right-click the selected track or shape, and click Average Waypoint.
  4. The Edit Waypoint dialog will appear, allowing you to label the new waypoint.

The Track Selection will remain selected after the new waypoint is created, allowing you to delete it after the averaged waypoint has been created.
