By defining a waypoint type, you can control the way waypoints are displayed on the map.
- Type
- Enter a name for this category of waypoints. Choose a short name that describes the real-world object that this category represents.
- Sample
- As you change Map Display settings, the Sample pane will show a preview of how the waypoint will look on the map.
Map Display.
The controls in the Map Display section change the appearance of the waypoint on the map.
- Importance
- To prevent the map from getting cluttered, GeoBuddy removes detail and makes objects smaller as you zoom out. Waypoints with a higher Importance will be larger on the map, and will continue to be displayed as the map is zoomed further out. If you want GeoBuddy to always display the waypoint at the same size, regardless of map scale, select an Importance of 0.
- Marker
- By default, GeoBuddy displays a symbol on the map that matches the waypoint's symbol in your GPS. To display a text label without any symbol, select None. GeoBuddy also includes a variety of marker categories which allow you to use symbols on the map which do not appear on your GPS.
- Font
- Choose between a serif and non-serif font for the waypoint label on the map.
- Case
- To display all labels in capital letters, choose Uppercase.
- Style
- Use Italic for lakes and rivers, or Bold text to make your label stand out.
- Alignment
- Set the position of the label, relative to the waypoint marker.
GPS Display.
The controls in the GPS Display section change the appearance of the waypoint on your GPS receiver's display.
- Symbol
- Choose a symbol to show on your GPS receiver for all waypoints of this type. The symbols listed should match the list of symbols available on the GPS receiver you selected in My GPS Receivers.
- Text
- If your GPS receiver allows you to specify how waypoint text is displayed on the map, you can turn off the waypoint label or display a comment instead.
